Music & Art at Trinity Cathedral is a
Cleveland-based arts organization that produces
free noontime BrownBag Concerts
seasonal evening concerts
collaborative arts programs
The BrownBag Concert Series was established in 1978 in the centuries-old Anglican tradition of providing quality music and arts free-of-charge for urban dwellers, students, and workers in the acoustical and architectural splendor of a cathedral. The concerts were an immediate success, received enthusiastically by individuals and institutions in the downtown area and beyond. Interest in broadening the musical possibilities led to the 1986 founding of the Trinity Chamber Orchestra which has been comprised of the finest local free-lance professionals throughout the years.
The series is also a prized performing venue for talented students from our several world-class area music conservatories. Todd Wilson became Artistic Director in 2011 and the concerts continued in musical and artistic expansion as classical, jazz, dance, folk, Big Band, and Latin offerings filled out the program. 2012 hosted an international artist-in-residence from the Creative Fusion Project and the concerts were the recipient of the Inclusion Award from the Cuyahoga County Board of Disabilities. In 2016, due to popular demand by guests unable to attend noontime concerts, seasonal evening concerts were added.
Spring 2020 continues the 42nd season and the concerts continue to be a vital part of the downtown Cleveland arts scene, providing top-quality entertainment to over 5,000 guests and performers annually from over 42 zip-codes, from newborns to centenarians, able and disabled, all are welcome!
